PSLC Theory Wiki Help

About this page

This page is general help for working with the PSLC wiki. Please feel free to add anything to this you feel would be of use or to modify anything here you think is unclear.

Problems/Questions

If you have any problems/questions please contact Benjamin Billings at bkb@cs.cmu.edu

Formatting

The for basic formating options visit www.mediawiki.org. A good list of what possible with examples is availible here. For more advanced editing try searching for what you wish to do at meta.wikimedia.org.

Adding/Starting a page

You can use the URL for creating a new page.

If you replace ARTICLE with the name of the page you wish to create, you will be taken to a blank page which indicates that no article of that name exists yet. Clicking the "edit" at the top of the page will take you to the edit page for that article, where you can create the new page by typing your text, and clicking submit.

Making a Link

To create an internal link within the wiki put the name of the page inside a double bracket.

If you wish to change the text of the link add a "|" inside the brackets followed by the text.

For an external link use a single bracet with the url a space followed by the text.

 • Example: CMU Website becomes CMU Website

Exact specifications for creating links and more advanced linking tips can be found here.

Categories

On the bottom of most pages and what should be on the bottom of all pages is . While this isn't strictly necessary it does help in the organization of the wiki. Currently there are 4 categories.

These catories can then be linked directly. For example http://www.learnlab.org/research/wiki/index.php/Category:Study or just Study brings up all the studies in an aphabetical order. It should provide a quick overview of all studies, project, glossary items. Please include the category at the bottom of new pages to help with classification.

Creating a new cateogry is as simple as typing (replace New Category with your actual category) anywhere on your page. This will automatically create the new category.
